Coleen Rooney has been seen showing fans inside her dream mansion in Cheshire, as she and husband Wayne open up their home to the cameras for the first time in their own reality series.
Wayne and Coleen have invited cameras into their home for the Disney+ show, The Real Rooneys, which launched on Thursday (September 24) and follows them raising their four boys: Kai, 16; Klay, 13; Kit, 10; and Cass, eight, as well as Wayne looking at life beyond football, and Coleen's own burgeoning media career.
Inside the Rooneys' family life
According to the synopsis of the 10-episode series: "With unprecedented access, we follow the family through the highs and lows of married life, raising four lively boys, and supporting eldest son Kai as he pursues his own footballing dream."
"Along the way come surprising personal revelations, career-defining moments, lavish celebrations and unforgettable family holidays. From their Cheshire home to the beaches of Barbados and the snowy Alps, this is Britain's most famous and private family as never seen before: warm, funny, and authentic."
Coleen on the right time for the series
Speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News ahead of the premiere of the series, Coleen said that it was the right time for the childhood sweethearts, who have been married since 2008, to open themselves and their family to the public in a fly-on-the-wall way.
"The kids are older, we have done stuff in the past, done documentaries and got a taste of having the cameras around," she shared. "And I think also going into the jungle, I exposed myself a lot in there."
"So I just felt, we've been asked for a long time to do something like this, and it's never been the right time. But I think if it felt like the right time and, you know, Wayne was around a bit more. So as a family unit, you know, we felt like we could deliver and let people into our lives."
A difficult period captured on camera
In the opener of the series, Coleen and Wayne's mansion is shown, with Coleen saying: "This house is everything I've dreamed of. As a little girl, you draw a house with a door in the middle and the same on both sides."
But later, Coleen speaks to a friend about the stresses of family life, saying: "It's just a bit hard, juggling everything. The house is not happy."
Explaining that period of time to the MEN, she said: "As Wayne said, we are in a really good place and, you know, you see in the programme, I say, the house isn't a happy house and that was at that difficult stage where we were still finding our feet of what roles we were taking on and [Wayne] was at a bit of a, you know, low moment and just not knowing what he was going to do." She added: "So, you know, looking back on that, to now, I do feel like that we've come out of it."
