Cheryl in final talks for The Voice UK coach role, six years after last TV stint
Cheryl in final talks for The Voice UK coach role

Cheryl is reportedly in final talks to join The Voice UK as a coach, marking her return to primetime television six years after her last appearance.

Talks in final stages

The former X Factor judge is said to be close to signing for the show, with filming for the new series scheduled to begin next month. According to The Sun, production for series 16 kicks off on September 11 in Manchester, and the Girls Aloud star is in the final stages of signing the contract.

Cheryl last appeared on primetime TV in 2020 as a dance captain on BBC's The Greatest Dancer. A source told the publication: "Every year producers ask Cheryl to go on the show and it's a polite 'no' as the timing has never quite been right. This year it's different. She feels ready to re-enter the spotlight and talks are now in the final stages."

The source added: "Things could come crashing down but with three weeks to go until filming kicks off, the production team is working on the assumption she will be doing it. It helps that long-term friend will.i.am will be beside her on the panel."

Series 15 launch

The fifteenth series of The Voice UK begins on ITV tonight (Saturday, August 22), with Kelly Rowland joining as a coach alongside Danny James, Tom Fletcher, Sir Tom Jones, and will.i.am.

Daily Star has contacted Cheryl's reps and ITV for a comment.

Possible hosting shake-up

Cheryl joining the panel may not be the only change for the show, as reports suggest Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon could replace Emma Willis as host. Emma has presented The Voice UK since 2014, but her schedule has expanded with roles on Love Is Blind UK on Netflix and Strictly Come Dancing, which returns in September.

The Mirror reports that Alesha and Stacey are being lined up to take over in 2027. The pair previously appeared together on Britain's Got Talent, where Stacey stepped in for Simon Cowell, and their on-screen chemistry was reportedly well received by programme bosses.

An unnamed source told The Mirror: "They have brilliant energy together and are buzzing to take on The Voice UK. Everyone is really excited." An ITV spokeswoman declined to comment on the new line-up.

The Voice UK series 15 airs on Saturday, August 22 at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
