Celebrity Traitors start time: when does series 2 begin?

The Celebrity Traitors returns tonight (October 1) at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer, with 21 famous faces entering Ardross Castle for the second UK celebrity series.

The debut episode will run for a slightly extended time, finishing at 9.15pm, while episodes usually run for an hour. It will immediately be followed by companion show The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble, who will be unpacking the events of the first episode.

Who is in the cast?

The all-star cast includes actor Richard E Grant, comedian Miranda Hart and singer-songwriter James Blunt. There will be two more players this time around than the first celebrity series, which was won by Traitor Alan Carr.

Players will be assigned roles as either Traitors or Faithfuls, decided at the game's start by show host Claudia Winkleman. The Traitors must pick off the Faithful players and remain undetected until the end, while the Faithfuls must weed them out or risk losing a share of the cash prize.

When does it air?

The new series will air fresh episodes every Thursday and Friday at the same time, spanning 10 episodes.

As per the BBC's synopsis: "Claudia Winkleman welcomes a brand-new group of celebrities to The Traitors castle in the Scottish Highlands to play the ultimate reality game of deception and betrayal in the hope of winning a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice."

"Hidden amongst the group are The Traitors whose task is simple: under the cover of darkness, they must pick off their fellow players one by without getting caught. The others - the Faithful - must try to uncover the Traitors and banish them before becoming their next victim."

"The lucky players who survive to the end have the chance of winning the money. If a Traitor remains, they take all the money and leave victorious."

The Celebrity Traitors airs Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
