Celebrity Traitors viewers outraged over 'spoiler' for first exit
Celebrity Traitors spoiler: fans predict first exit

Celebrity Traitors viewers are outraged, convinced that a major spoiler has already ruined the first cliff-hanger of the series. Fans now believe a favourite star will be the first to leave the BBC show.

Return of the hit series

The BBC series has returned for its second instalment. Celebrity contestants – most known as Faithfuls – try to identify the murderous traitors among them, who eliminate players in the middle of the night. Stars compete for a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.

Last year's final was intense as Nick Mohammed turned on Joe Marler at the last minute, voting for him to be banished. With everyone else in agreement, Joe walked away from the prize pot. Traitor Alan Carr remained undetected and swept the entire amount, £87,500, for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK.

Traitors revealed

On Thursday (October 1), Maya Jama and Richard E Grant were chosen as the traitors on the series return. The Love Island host, 32, and Saltburn actor, 69, have been tasked with deceiving their fellow contestants.

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman before being chosen, Jama said: “As a host, I have a welcoming energy and hopefully people will trust me.” She added she would “hopefully be an unassuming, warm and misleading traitor”. Grant said he was “utterly ruthless” and would feel “no guilt as it’s a game”. “If I was lucky enough to be a traitor, it would be a dream come true. In this game the only power you have is being a traitor,” he added.

Grant made an accidental blunder, revealing he was a traitor to the other famous faces minutes after finding out. Comedian Joe Lycett was stunned by his confession and said: “I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that.” Elsewhere, viewers were left in tears laughing at Ross Kemp as he became paranoid over every action. After Bella Ramsey placed a sailor's hat on his head and Leigh-Anne stroked his arm, he was convinced he would end up the first one dead.

Cliff-hanger and spoiler claims

As the first episode came to a cliff-hanger end, James Acaster and Amol Rajan are fighting for their places on the show. They had to meet the two traitors face to face and were challenged with pleading their case on why they should be considered, with the other set to be murdered.

However, viewers are convinced the ending is already ruined after a James Acaster article was published ahead of the first episode. A source told The Sun that filming had to stop after several celebrities became concerned for James as he became overwhelmed. It has been confirmed those scenes will not air and it did not affect the outcome of the game. Now, viewers believe this means James will be in the game for longer as a traitor.

On X, @bexgrace3 wrote: "I'm assuming James isn't murdered because there was that news article about him recently and I doubt even he had a meltdown in the first 24 hours lmao but you never know! But I'll be shocked if James isn't the traitor pick". Another viewer echoed: "Probably shouldn't have released that article about James two days ago if they wanted that to be a cliffhanger".
