The BBC has confirmed that I Kissed a Girl will return to iPlayer this month, hosted by Dannii Minogue. However, the network has announced that the upcoming series will be the final one, concluding after ten episodes.
Return Date and Final Season Announcement
The second chapter of the UK's first dating programme for queer women is scheduled to arrive on June 23. In a teaser post on Instagram, the BBC wrote: "Let the flirting begin. #IKissedAGirl coming to iPlayer on the 23rd of June. It's loud, proud and starts with a kiss as Dannii Minogue plays cupid to ten single ladies. It's a heartbreaking, heart-racing hot girl queer summer."
Fan Reactions
Fans quickly responded with a mix of excitement and disappointment. One viewer commented: "Cannot wait." Another wrote: "Fantastic. But why is this not coming back after this season?? The best dating show out there by a mile." A third user remarked: "So can't wait, albeit sad it's the last one. Why take this off air? It's fantastic, and Danni is just the best." Others expressed joy: "YES LETS GOOO" and "WE HAVE BEEN WAITING."
Dannii Minogue's Enthusiasm
Discussing the show, presenter Dannii Minogue shared her excitement: "I Kissed A Girl was full of heart and groundbreaking for female representation on TV. The fans loved the fun, the passion and the drama. I can't wait for the return of the girls - let's see what the heat of the Italian sun does for kisses and connections. It is sure to get sparks flying. I am ready to be Cupid once again - get ready for the Masseria Mania!"
Show's Legacy and Cancellation
The series originally launched two years ago and won Best Media Moment at the DIVA awards, as well as nominations for Outstanding Reality Competition Programme at the GLAAD awards and Best Multichannel Programme at the Broadcast Awards. Unfortunately, the programme's cancellation is reportedly due to budget cuts, leaving fans disappointed that such a beloved show will not continue.
