Alex Kingston broke down in tears on It Takes Two after becoming the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing. The 62-year-old actress and her professional partner Johannes Radebe landed in the dance-off and were voted out of the competition.
Appearing on Monday's episode with host Fleur East, Kingston said an injury had hampered her performance. She explained she had been excited to perform the Cha Cha Cha but sustained an injury that worsened during the day, distracting her and affecting her focus. She was upset not to deliver the dance she had hoped for Johannes and the audience but felt she redeemed herself in the dance-off, making no mistakes.
Johannes expressed his enjoyment of their time together and praised her efforts. Kingston added that if she had to leave, she wanted to feel she had done her best given her state. The mood turned emotional as highlights from her ten weeks were shown, bringing her to tears.
When asked by Fleur East if she would continue dancing, Kingston revealed her husband has been taking salsa lessons for the past five weeks to become her dance partner. She became emotional as her voice broke, and Johannes exclaimed "Stop!" She explained her husband realises how much the Strictly journey has meant to her and wants it to continue.
She acknowledged her husband will likely seek advice from Johannes, with whom she has formed a close bond. Following her exit, Kingston paid tribute to Johannes on social media, praising his kindness, elegance, and ability to bring calm, and thanking him for helping her find her "steel balls" and "exquisite" legs.
