Alan Carr, winner of the first series of Celebrity Traitors, has named Miranda Hart as a potential standout in the new season, which begins tonight. Speaking at the National Television Awards last month, the comedian said he is "super excited" about Hart joining the cast and believes she could deliver "TV gold" if selected as a Traitor.
Comedian's predictions for new cast
Carr told the Huff Post: "I'm super excited about Miranda Hart because Miranda reminds me a bit of me, and if they make her a Traitor, that is going to be TV gold." He also joked about her famously clumsy persona, adding: "And I think Miranda Hart is so clumsy, she might murder herself."
The 50-year-old also praised Joanne McNally as a "whirlwind" and "motormouth", and said he would be keeping an eye on Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. He described Richard E. Grant as a "really interesting" addition to the show.
New series begins with 21 celebrities
Carr previously said he was "so jealous" of the new cast after learning who would be heading to Ardross Castle for the second series. The show returns tonight, October 1, with 21 famous faces competing for a chance to win up to £100,000 for charity.
Host Claudia Winkleman will secretly select some contestants to become Traitors, while the rest play as Faithfuls. The Traitors must avoid detection while secretly "murdering" other contestants, with the Faithfuls voting to banish those they suspect.
Star-studded line-up revealed
This year's cast includes journalist Amol Rajan, actor Bella Ramsey, mathematician Hannah Fry, and comedians James Acaster, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha'la and Richard E Grant are also taking part, alongside Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, Sharon Rooney and social media star King Kenny.
Carr won the first series after making it to the end of the game. The new series begins tonight at 8pm on BBC One, promising more twists, secret deals and suspicion as the celebrities battle to reach the final.
