AJ Pritchard's GB News Debut Sparks Backlash

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard has faced criticism following his presenting debut on GB News, with viewers questioning his suitability for a career in journalism.

From Ballroom to Broadcast

Pritchard, who was known for his warm and friendly demeanour during his time on the BBC show, left Strictly in 2020. Since then, he has pursued various TV ventures, including appearances on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2020, where he finished sixth, and a brief stint on Hollyoaks in 2021.

He also competed in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in 2022 and The Challenge UK in 2023, but failed to regain the fanbase he once had.

The GB News Segment

On Saturday night, the 31-year-old presented a segment on shoplifting and petty crime on The Saturday Five. He also contributed to discussions on overnight news stories. However, critics noted he appeared clunky reading the autocue and struggled to convey sincerity on camera.

The appearance comes after his return from the US, where he competed on Dancing With The Stars: The Next Pro. He lost out to Adele Zaikman, meaning he will not compete on the main show next year.

Career Crossroads

Observers suggest Pritchard's TV career may now be at a crossroads, with some calling for him to take a break from the cameras to focus on other interests, such as professional training or construction work.
