This year's Love Island saw 38 Islanders enter the villa, including the original cast and all the bombshells who made surprise arrivals. Kavan Murphy was one of those unexpected entrants, joining after his elder brother Aidan had already been there from day one - making it the first time siblings appeared on the same series.
Aidan lost his place in the final after being dumped alongside Priya, who entered as a bombshell at the same time as Kavan. Kavan, meanwhile, made it all the way to the final day and was ultimately crowned runner-up. He and Jasmine Mulller narrowly missed out on first place to Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak. Responding at the time, the duo insisted they felt as though they had triumphed regardless, as they were departing the villa 'in love', reports OK!
Aidan: 'Roles were slightly reversed'
Speaking to Radio Times, Aidan revealed his brother had completely different feelings before entering the villa. He said: "You know what's funny - like obviously me and Kav were like discussing sort of going in and stuff like that. Obviously we didn't know what was going to happen, but we were sort of throughout the process, we were sort of together and we knew that we were kind of potentially going on the show."
"And I was going in for love and he kind of had the mentality that he was going to go in, he was going to be a bit of a player and this and that and the other." Priya interjected "Have just a bit of a fun summer" before Aidan added: "Yeah, a little bit and I very much went in there sort of looking or love. And in a weird way, maybe the roles were slightly reversed slightly."
Record near-miss and Grafties success
Aidan also nearly broke Love Island records with the highest number of couples in a single series, but narrowly fell short. Following his departure, he admitted: "I was a bit annoyed that I didn't get the record! I'll take the silver medal."
He swept the board at The Grafties, claiming three gongs, but disclosed that he wasn't allowed to keep them. He said: "Oh no, we didn't get them (the awards). That was really frustrating. They even engraved my name into the award - Flirtiest Moment, Raunchiest Moment and Plot Twist award. I need a cabinet for all these trophies."
