Vernon Kay Favourite to Replace Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show

Vernon Kay has emerged as the bookmakers' favourite to replace Scott Mills on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, following Mills' sudden departure. The 53-year-old was taken off air last week and his contract was terminated over allegations relating to his personal conduct, the BBC confirmed on Monday.

William Hill has placed Kay, who currently hosts a mid-morning show on Radio 2, at odds of 6/4 to take over the flagship breakfast slot. Gary Davies, who stepped in to host the show last Wednesday, is second favourite at 5/2, followed by OJ Borg at 11/4.

Other potential candidates include Rylan Clark (7/2), Clara Amfo (4/1), and Tony Blackburn (6/1). Strictly Come Dancing and Traitors presenter Claudia Winkleman is also in the running at 8/1, while comedians Joe Wilkinson and Alex Horne are longer shots at 10/1 and 20/1 respectively.

Mills took over the breakfast show from Zoe Ball just over a year ago. His departure follows an allegation relating to a historic relationship dating back more than 10 years, according to The Mirror. The BBC has not commented further on the reasons for his dismissal.
