Scott Mills' husband Sam Vaughan has posted on Instagram for the first time since the DJ was sacked by the BBC, receiving support from former colleagues including Zoe Ball, Sara Cox and Rylan.
The couple marked their second wedding anniversary, with Vaughan sharing a post that drew replies from several BBC stars. Ball wrote 'Love you' with heart emojis, while Cox and Rylan also sent heart emojis. Broadcaster 'Whispering' Bob Harris added 'Sending much love xx'.
Mills' contract was terminated in March 2026 after the BBC received 'new information' about a police investigation into the presenter from 2017. He had been investigated by the Metropolitan Police in 2016 over allegations of serious sexual offences involving a teenage boy under 16 between 1997 and 2000. He was questioned under caution in 2018, but the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to charge him as the evidential threshold had not been met.
Rylan, a close friend of Mills, recently spoke about the difficulty of seeing a friend 'cancelled', saying on the programme The Assembly: 'At the end of the day, if someone’s done something wrong, then I understand why they can’t carry on doing what they’re doing. But I do feel today that we live in a world where people will wanna go for you and cancel you for the sake of just doing it, because they can.'
Sara Cox, who replaced Mills on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, described the role as a 'dream' and said she felt 'ecstatic, honoured and incredibly chuffed' to take over.
