Naga Munchetty will leave her role on BBC Breakfast this year, the broadcaster has confirmed. The 51-year-old has been a familiar face on the programme for 17 years.
New role on Radio 5 Live
Munchetty first joined Breakfast on BBC One as a finance reporter in 2009, before becoming a regular presenter in 2014. She has been one of the main hosts for the past 12 years. She will no longer appear on the programme and will instead present Radio 5 Live Breakfast five days a week.
The TV presenter currently splits her time between both roles, but will move over to Radio 5 permanently in December, departing her role on BBC One's primetime morning show.

Speaking about her decision, Munchetty told the BBC: "It has been a privilege to be part of the BBC Breakfast TV team for the past 17 years, working alongside an incredibly talented and hard-working group of journalists who are not only outstanding colleagues but also great friends."
She added: "Presenting a flagship programme on 5 Live is an opportunity that was simply too good to pass up. It will take a huge amount of work and require 100% of my focus and energy, and I'm really looking forward to throwing myself into the role."
