Karen Gillan has reunited with her former Doctor Who co-star Tony Curran while supporting Scotland at the World Cup in Boston. The Inverness actress shared a surprise snap on Instagram showing the pair outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, donning Scotland's football kits.
Reunion at the World Cup
Posting the photo on June 14, Karen and Tony posed proudly with a Lion Rampant flag. Tony Curran, who played Vincent Van Gogh in Doctor Who, stood beside the actress, both wearing Scotland's World Cup jerseys. The reunion delighted fans, with one commenting: "Vincent Van Gogh looks so happy to meet Amy Pond again."
Karen starred as Amy Pond, the Doctor's companion, from 2010 to 2013, while Tony's guest appearance as Van Gogh remains one of the series' most emotional episodes.
Celebrations in Boston
After Scotland's group stage win against Haiti, Karen threw herself into celebrations. She shared a clip singing and dancing in her hotel room, exclaiming: "Yes sir, I can boogie…when SCOTLAND WINS!!! GO ON LADS!!!" Another video showed her and Tony singing The Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" on the way to the match, which garnered over 4.9 million views.
Fans were thrilled to see the stars embracing the World Cup spirit. One Boston local noted: "The tartan army takeover of Boston has been amazing!"
Looking Ahead
Scotland still has two more group stage matches to play, with hopes of advancing to the knockout stages for the first time. Karen and Tony, along with fans worldwide, will be cheering them on.
