Jillian Lauren-Shriner, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, has filed for divorce after two decades of marriage, according to legal documents obtained by People. The filing comes months after she was involved in a shooting incident with LAPD officers.
Lauren-Shriner, a best-selling author who writes under the name Jillian Lauren, was arrested on April 8 after sustaining a non-life-threatening gunshot wound from police. The LAPD stated that officers were pursuing a hit-and-run suspect when one suspect tried to enter her property. Lauren-Shriner allegedly fired at the suspect and then pointed her gun at officers, refusing to lower it when asked. She was shot in the shoulder and later pleaded not guilty to charges. In September, a judge granted a mental health diversion, allowing her to avoid jail time.
The divorce filing cites “irreconcilable differences.” Lauren-Shriner is seeking spousal support and attorney fees from Shriner, and requests that the court terminate Shriner’s ability to receive spousal support. She also seeks joint legal and physical custody of their two sons, aged 13 and 17. The couple married in Hawaii in 2005.
Earlier this year, Lauren-Shriner revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer and underwent two back-to-back surgeries, including a full hysterectomy. Neither party has publicly confirmed the split.
