Sophie Cachia Celebrates Matildas' World Cup Win with Girlfriend Alanna Kennedy

Sophie Cachia, former AFL WAG and mother of two, has congratulated her girlfriend Alanna Kennedy and the Matildas on winning the bid to co-host the 2023 Women's World Cup with New Zealand. The 29-year-old mummy blogger shared a picture with Kennedy on the pitch, declaring: 'Another huge win for female sport in our country! See you in 2023 baby!'

Cachia, who shares son Bobby, six, and daughter Florence, two, with ex-husband Jaryd Cachia, said she got 'goosebumps' explaining the significance of the announcement to her children. 'You don't need to like soccer or even follow the Matildas to appreciate the scale of an announcement like this on the world stage,' she wrote on social media.

The trans-Tasman bid secured 22 of 35 valid votes from the FIFA Council, beating Colombia for the tournament scheduled for July and August 2023. Matches will be held across 12 cities in Australia and New Zealand, with the opening at Eden Park in Auckland and the final in Sydney.

Cachia confirmed her romance with Kennedy, 25, in March, following her split from former Carlton star Jaryd Cachia in September after four years of marriage. She has described the separation as amicable, noting that they continue to live together and co-parent their children.
