Julia Buruleva, a 47-year-old Russian photographer, is reportedly facing severe death threats and a torrent of online abuse after her controversial art project involving painting an elephant bright pink in India. The backlash intensified dramatically when the 65-year-old Indian elephant died approximately four months after the photoshoot, although Buruleva insists the animal's death was due to old age and unrelated to her artistic intervention.
