Global superstar Rihanna was left unimpressed after a brief but awkward encounter with a member of her security team outside a luxury New York hotel this weekend.
An Unfortunate Door Mishap
The incident occurred as the 37-year-old singer was departing the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan. Rihanna, who looked effortlessly chic in oversized outerwear, black trousers and sunglasses, was following her bodyguard through a set of double doors.
Video footage shows the bodyguard exiting first, allowing the door to swing back directly into the path of the Fenty Beauty founder. Reacting with sharp wit, the mother-of-three pushed through the door and remarked, "Such a gentleman you are," in a tone laden with sarcasm.
Social Media Backlash Erupts
The clip quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting significant criticism of the bodyguard's lapse in protocol. Dozens of users on X, formerly Twitter, shared their disapproval of the action.
One commenter stated bluntly, "He is not a gentleman," while another declared, "The bodyguard should be ashamed." Others pointed out the principle of the matter, noting that part of a protective detail's role is to anticipate such minor hazards for their client.
Despite the clumsy moment, Rihanna did not let it derail her evening. She was in New York to support her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, who was making his debut as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. The singer later joined him at the glitzy afterparty following the show, which was hosted by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard.
Family Life in the Spotlight
The hotel door incident comes amid continued public interest in Rihanna's family life. Just last week, the nine-time Grammy winner sparked speculation about potentially expanding her family further.
She commented "Wait! So I'm not crazy then? Bet!" on a social media post by former Love Island star Montana Brown, who joked about choosing between "getting hot and sexy or getting pregnant in 2026."
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their third child, a daughter named Rocki, on September 13. They are also parents to two sons: RZA, born in 2022, and Riot, born in 2023.
