This is the heart-stopping moment a quick-witted mother saved her son from falling off a fourth-floor balcony with her incredible reflexes. CCTV footage from a construction company in Medellin, Colombia, shows the mother and her toddler son walking out of an elevator along with a delivery man.
As the mother waited for someone to open a door, the curious toddler walked over to the railings of the staircase and appeared to put his hands on what he thought was a panel of glass. He then crouched down and leaned forward, only to realise the railing was empty.
The mother, who appeared to be on her phone a few steps away, bolted into action and threw herself over the edge of the railing to grab her son. The delivery man quickly ran to the floor below hoping to rescue the boy. Employees from the construction company immediately rushed to help.
Seconds later, the boy lost balance and fell through a space between the railings. Luckily, the mother managed to hold onto her son's feet and was able to bring him back to safety. The incident happened on Wednesday in the Laureles Colonial building, according to local reports.
It is unclear whether the boy sustained any injuries from the near-fatal misstep. The video was shared on Reddit, where some users praised the mother's reflexes, while others criticised her for being careless and blamed her distraction. Some argued that the railings did not meet safety standards.
