Former Love Island contestant Jessy Potts has opened up about the reality of Movie Night, a staple event on the ITV show that often sparks drama among islanders. Potts, who appeared on the programme in 2024 and returned for Love Island: All Stars earlier this year, shared exclusive details with Mecca Bingo.
Movie Night Chaos Revealed
Potts described the first Movie Night she experienced as “pure chaos.” She said: “The first time we had Movie Night, it was pure chaos. That was wild. It was just drama, drama, drama because it was the first time anyone had ever seen any of it back. So there were a lot of arguments and a lot of drama.”
However, the second Movie Night was different. “The second time, there were still a lot of arguments, but it wasn't as serious as it was portrayed. There was a lot of laughing, joking and taking the p*** out of each other at the same time, which obviously gets cut out because there are so many arguments as well. By that point, we were kind of like, 'You know what? I said what I said, I stand by it,' and you're laughing and joking about it.”
Behind-the-Scenes Surprises
Potts also revealed that producers sometimes intervene during Movie Night. “Yeah, a few times, they want the drama, they just don't want it to be taken too far.” She added that seeing conversations about her behind her back was “a really weird experience” but also “funny at the same time.”
Discussing villa life, Potts shared surprising insights: “I think it's so crazy to see the behind the scenes. I feel like that answer is so generic, but obviously you don't see the areas of the villa that aren't filmed. Like when you're in the Diary Room, you don't realise that it's a small little webcam and you can't see anyone. You're just talking to a wall. And the Voice of God – I don't think I'd really heard too much about that. There's like a tannoy over the whole villa and that's how the producers get you to come to the Beach Hut to do chats in the Beach Hut, and to get you to stop talking about things you shouldn't be talking about.”
