This is the astonishing moment a shoplifter and his wheelchair-bound accomplice rammed their way through Target employees in a brazen raid in California. In a video posted by Arisley Pacheco, the unknown duo is seen speedily approaching the exit while security guards and employees create a barricade.
As the shoplifter and his co-conspirator approach the door, the shoplifter is seen pulling his accomplice's wheelchair from the front and pushing through the employees. The guards are seen trying to resist the robbers' attempts by not moving but are pushed aside as the duo makes their way out and runs away.
While the incident happens, a woman is heard saying: 'Y'all, it is getting wild here at Target. My man told me to mind my business but I can't help it.' As the thieves are seen running outside of the store, the woman is heard yelling 'Oh'. Officials have not identified any suspects or launched an investigation into the case.
This comes months after a California sheriff claimed Target is allowing shoplifters to run rampant and hindering cops' efforts to crack down on crime. In November 2023, Sacramento County Sheriff Jim Cooper took to X to share his outrage, writing 'I can't make this stuff up' and detailing how the company had allegedly hindered his team's efforts to help the stores tackle crime.
He said Target had told his officers they weren't allowed to arrest anyone in store as they didn't want 'negative press' and staff did nothing when shoplifting happened. 'We don't tell big retail how to do their jobs, they shouldn't tell us how to do ours,' Cooper said. Two weeks ago, Walmart and Target announced they had begun locking up underwear and socks, which was met by great surprise from Bay Area shoppers.
