Celebrity Couple Breaks Silence After Terrifying Home Invasion
Reality television star Kathy Hilton and her husband Rick have been spotted for the first time since three burglars targeted their luxurious Beverly Hills mansion. The couple appeared at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday, where they candidly discussed the break-in that occurred while Kathy was away at BravoCon in Las Vegas.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 66, and the real estate tycoon, 70 - parents to socialites Paris and Nicky Hilton - confirmed they were doing "okay" following the frightening ordeal that took place the previous Saturday.
How Rainy Weather Became an Unlikely Hero
In an unexpected twist, Kathy revealed that Los Angeles' recent rainy weather actually worked in their favour during the burglary attempt. "The only thing I'll say it was pretty good. By the time they got up, it was raining. Our security was checking a leak," she explained to photographers at the airport.
"And so he came up and they all met up, and they ran," the celebrity added, describing how their security guard unexpectedly encountered the intruders while investigating water damage from the rainfall.
Rick Hilton assured that police are actively investigating the incident, stating confidently that "police are on top of it" when questioned about the ongoing investigation.
Security Measures and Social Media Concerns
When asked about their alarm systems, Kathy explained their protocol: "When somebody is going outside, you turn it off." Rick quickly added that they have comprehensive security measures in place, including private security personnel.
The conversation turned to social media practices, particularly whether celebrities should reconsider posting their whereabouts online. Kathy defended her approach, stating, "Well, that was my job. You know, I had to do that," while emphasising that she never discloses her current location in real-time.
In a revealing moment, the couple confirmed they are "very much" gun people when questioned about firearm ownership for home protection. Kathy tempered this by adding, "Just as long as everybody's safe, that's it."
The burglary occurred last Saturday while Kathy was attending BravoCon in Las Vegas. According to TMZ, Rick Hilton was the one who discovered the intruders and immediately called 911, reporting three burglars inside their property. Police responded quickly but the suspects had already fled the premises before authorities arrived. It remains unclear whether any items were stolen during the incident.
In a strange coincidence, fellow Real Housewives star Sutton Stracke also experienced a security incident at her home on the same Saturday, though earlier in the day at 2 PM. Her dogwalker reportedly discovered a broken kitchen window and alerted police, who filed an official report.
Just one week before the break-in, Kathy Hilton had hosted an elaborate pajama party at the same mansion, sharing images of the event that showcased her home's interior. The holiday-themed gathering featured Christmas trees, wreaths, and life-size nutcrackers, with proceeds benefiting Los Angeles Mission charity.
