Jake Hall's family have spoken out after the former TOWIE star's funeral was transformed into a rave. The 35-year-old reality star turned fashion designer died last month after an accident in Majorca, where he crashed through a glass door at his rental apartment following a night out with friends.
His funeral last week included a church service attended by TOWIE castmates, boxer Derek Chisora, the Thomas brothers, and his former partner Chloe Lewis. The wake took place at Unlocked Shoreditch, a venue owned by his brother Sonny Hall, spanning three floors with a fashion installation, art exhibition, live performances, and a club night.
The fashion floor featured a hoodie designed by Jake embroidered with the words: 'Something happens every time I wear this.' The art gallery presented the first major public showing of his original paintings. The basement closed with DJ sets and performances from friends including Maverick Sabre, Tom Grennan, and The Kooks.
On behalf of the family, Sonny Hall said: 'We wanted to give Jake a send-off that matched who he was — not a quiet room, not a conventional goodbye. He lived out loud. He built things. He made people feel something.' He added: 'The art, the foundation, everything we're building in his name — that's the mission continuing. Choose everything.'
Earlier, a traditional service was held at St Mary the Virgin church in Wanstead. A screen was erected for those unable to get a seat. Jake's best friend joked: 'From one narcissistic mummy's boy to another, I love you forever.' Attendees included James Argent and David Beckham's mother and sister, Sandra and Joanne Beckham.
Jake's former girlfriend Chloe Lewis, who dated him on and off since they were teenagers, paid tribute on social media, calling him her 'first love' and 'childhood sweetheart.' She wrote: 'You touched so many lives and meant well in everything you did.' She added that being a father was most important to him, saying: 'You did that, Jake, with pride.'
