A new horror movie trailer is traumatising film fans before its release. As cinemagoers sat down to watch Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, they were shown the trailer for Other Mommy starring Jessica Chastain, which features a horrifying scene of her limbs contorted as she crawls out from under a table.
Audience Reactions
The trailer, uploaded on YouTube, drew comments from horrified viewers. One wrote: "That is the first time in my life where a jumpscare in a TRAILER has got me." Another said: "That scene when she’s under table made my entire theatre jump." A third commented: "Jesus Christ that table scare is an actual all-timer, like that Smile neck one."
A fourth viewer wrote: "Bruh, the way she turned into a spider under the table and continued to smile just made me uncomfortable." A fifth added: "This is how you do a horror movie trailer," while a sixth said: "The way she crawled under the table was actually disturbing." One person expressed doubts: "I feel like they should have saved that jump scare for the movie, but I think that that jump scare just sold about $30 million worth of opening weekend tickets."
Film Details
Other Mommy is expected to hit cinemas on 9 October and stars Jessica Chastain, Jay Duplass, Arabella Olivia Clark, Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed and Karen Allen. The trailer description reads: "From James Wan, one of the most influential architects of modern horror behind the Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring franchises—and Rob Savage, the director of bold genre films Host and The Boogeyman, comes a terrifying trip into the darkening world of a young girl, Bela, who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother."
