England captain Harry Kane has the hopes of a nation on his shoulders as the Three Lions prepare to face Argentina in the World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday evening. The Bayern Munich striker has scored six goals and registered one assist so far in the tournament, making him a contender for the Golden Boot.
Kane's Meeting with Donald Trump
Kane recently revealed he accepted an invitation from US President Donald Trump to play golf in Florida 18 months ago. The England captain described the round as a 'pretty surreal experience'. Speaking ahead of England's quarter-final victory over Norway, Kane said: 'When the president invites you somewhere, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and obviously play golf with him.'
He added: 'His golf is pretty good, to be honest with you. I hope I can play golf as good as him when I'm his age, that's for sure. A unique experience, but I was just grateful that he invited me to play.' Trump had previously said: 'I think Kane is a great player. I played golf with him and I like him a lot. He's a good golfer too. He's really great.'
Family Life with Wife and Kids
Kane married Kate Goodland in 2019. The couple first met while attending Larkswood Primary School before both studying at Chingford Foundation School in Waltham Forest. They share four children: Ivy Jane Kane, Vivienne Jane, Louis Harry, and Henry Edward. Kane has said he feels fortunate to have found love with Goodland before becoming a footballing icon.
He told the Evening Standard: 'If I was single now and meeting people, you'd never know if they were with you for the right reasons. Is it the money? You'd never really know. So I'm lucky that I've got a childhood sweetheart.'
Kane moved to Germany from north London in August 2023, initially relocating on his own while preparations were made for his family to join him later. They now live in a luxury home in Grunwald, one of Munich's most exclusive residential areas, known as the 'Beverly Hills of Bavaria'. The family's sprawling £30 million residence reportedly sits on the edge of a forest with panoramic views over the river.
£20m 'Buckingham Palace'-Style House
Kane has fuelled speculation of a return to the UK by splashing out £20 million on a Surrey mansion, despite being in talks over a new contract with Bayern. According to The Sun, construction is near complete on the house, which Kane bought in 2023 for £6.5 million and began renovating. He had the property levelled to build a new house featuring four bedrooms, a £20,000 car turntable, a cinema, pool, bar, treatment room, and a gym.
Some locals have described the initial designs as resembling Buckingham Palace. Kane is expected to move in with his family once his career abroad ends. He is under contract with Bayern until next summer. Discussing links to other clubs, Kane said: 'My father and brother handle everything, but they haven't said anything to me. As I've already said, I'm very happy here at Bayern. I'm focused on this season and my time at Bayern. I take it as a compliment.'
