Former Nickelodeon Star Tylor Chase Declines Police Assistance While Homeless
Ex-Nickelodeon Star Tylor Chase Declines Police Help

Police in Riverside, California, have stated that former Nickelodeon actor Tylor Chase has been offered help on several occasions but has so far declined all assistance. The 36-year-old, known for playing Martin Qwerly on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, is currently unhoused but is not wanted for any crimes.

Police Outreach Repeatedly Declined

Public Information Officer Ryan Railsback told TMZ on Monday that the department's outreach division has offered Chase shelter, drug or alcohol treatment, and mental health services. Chase has not accepted these offers, though authorities describe him as 'cooperative and cordial' during weekly conversations with officers.

The Riverside Police Department's Community Engagement Division focuses on building partnerships and addressing community safety. Despite their efforts, they have not been able to connect Chase with his relatives, and he remains without permanent housing.

Co-Stars React with Shock and Concern

The situation came to light after a viral video filmed in September showed Chase looking dishevelled. In the clip, he identified himself to a fan, clarifying he was on Nickelodeon, not the Disney Channel.

His former co-stars from Ned's Declassified—Lindsey Shaw, Devon Werkheiser, and Daniel Curtis Lee—addressed the news on their podcast on September 24. Daniel Curtis Lee described the video as 'scary' and expressed a feeling of powerlessness, while also stating his belief that Chase could recover.

'I miss Tylor, I love Tylor so, so much,' said Lindsey Shaw, who expressed a desire to see him in person. Devon Werkheiser called the footage 'painful and shocking,' but believed the person who filmed it had good intentions.

A Wider Pattern of Child Star Struggles

This case highlights the difficult transition some former child actors face. In a show of solidarity, Shaun Weiss, another former child star from The Mighty Ducks films who has himself battled homelessness, has reportedly offered help to Chase.

Chase, who is originally from Arizona, began acting as a teenager. His credits also include a role on Everybody Hates Chris in 2005 and a part in the 2008 film Good Time Max.

The Riverside Police Department and Nickelodeon have been approached for further comment by The Daily Mail. For now, authorities continue their weekly welfare checks, hoping Chase will eventually accept the support available to him.
