An Atlanta college student has created a 17-page 'relationship contract' with her boyfriend just two weeks after they met on Tinder, outlining expectations including a 'romantic gesture' every two weeks. Annie Wright, 21, and Michael Head, 23, began dating in October and decided to formalise their relationship with a written agreement to avoid misunderstandings.
Wright, who had previously been in a toxic relationship, said she wanted to set 'serious ground rules' this time. After Head suggested exclusivity, she jokingly proposed a contract, and he agreed. They each drafted individual terms and then combined them, reading the final document aloud to each other.
The contract includes relationship objectives such as honesty, communication, and awareness of each other's needs. It also bans ignoring one another and dictating friendships. A section on boundaries states that Wright is allowed to say no, and Head cannot hold her responsible for any negative impacts on his life resulting from his choices for her.
The couple discussed love languages: Wright's is gifts, so Head buys her flowers regularly; Head's is quality time, so Wright accompanies him to the gym. Wright requested a romantic gesture every two weeks to a month, which she reciprocates. She said the contract has been 'a game changer' and recommends it to other couples.
