Jamie Oliver was branded a 'filthy pervert' by This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield after suggesting putting salad in a Cornish pasty. The chef, 44, appeared on the ITV show on Thursday to demonstrate how to replace meat in classic dishes.
When Oliver suggested 'opening up a little pocket' in the pasty to 'shove' some salad in, Schofield, 57, reacted with horror, shouting: 'Salad in a pasty!? You filthy pervert!' The comment prompted laughter from the production crew.
The exchange began with Oliver explaining how to cook a meat-free pasty, saying: 'A lot of people that are trying to cut meat out, or go a little bit lighter, think that they can't have these delicious things.' He then described the ingredients, including potatoes, onions, mushrooms, and black pepper.
Schofield's horror was provoked when Oliver added: 'But if you open up a little pocket and shove some of that salad in there I'm telling you, and a bit of mustard.' Fans on Twitter were in hysterics, with one saying: 'Phillip calling Jamie Oliver a filthy pervert is the best thing I've ever heard #ThisMorning.'
Oliver's appearance comes after the collapse of part of his restaurant empire in the summer. Restaurant Fifteen and chains Jamie's Italian and Barbecoa went into administration in May, with over 20 restaurants shutting and 1,000 jobs lost. Oliver admitted he was 'naive' and 'didn't know' how to run a business successfully.
