A cat owner has shared her profound heartbreak after witnessing her beloved pet's behaviour through a pet camera during a night she spent away from home. The incident has prompted her to deeply reconsider how she allocates her time and attention towards her feline companion.
The woman explained that she opted to stay at her mother's house for a single evening, choosing to leave her cat, named Chas, alone at home. This decision was made to avoid causing the animal unnecessary stress from travel, as she believed it was the kinder option.

To maintain a watchful eye over her pet while situated approximately an hour away, she ensured her pet monitoring camera was fully operational and recording before her departure. However, upon later reviewing the captured footage, her emotions were utterly shattered.
In a poignant video shared on the social media platform TikTok, the owner recounted the experience. "I spent the night somewhere else... Chas spent the night waiting for me to come home," she revealed. "It broke my heart the entire night watching him on the camera stare at the door waiting for me to come home."
She had left the television and lights on in her bedroom, anticipating that Chas would remain in that familiar space. "I wasn’t expecting him to be in the living room at all," she admitted. The video clearly shows the cat fixated on the door, seemingly in hopeful anticipation of his owner's return, a wait that lasted until the following morning.
