Brooklyn Beckham has sparked controversy with a new advert for US food delivery company DoorDash, in which he appears to mock his ongoing feud with parents David and Victoria Beckham. The advert, released during the FIFA World Cup 2026, shows Brooklyn smirking at the camera and saying: "You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home... It's a long story." He then throws tickets onto a coffee table, as a cryptic message flashes: "It's complicated. More soon."
Hidden Barbs in the Advert
Eagle-eyed viewers spotted several apparent digs at his family. A stack of unopened letters on the table is believed to reference his refusal to respond to his parents' attempts to communicate, which have been directed through lawyers. This comes two days after his sister Harper, 14, reportedly visited his home and left a handwritten letter, which Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz missed, branding it a "staged photo opportunity."
Another potential jab is the watch on the table. Brooklyn had been wearing a £250,000 Patek Philippe Nautilus gifted by his father, but in the clip, he displays a new watch, seemingly shaking off that association. The World Cup references also tie to David Beckham, who played in three tournaments (1998, 2002, 2006).
Backlash and Family Reaction
The advert has drawn heavy criticism. One commenter said: "He must've got paid big bucks for throwing shade." Another added: "Love the fact that he got the gig because he is Beckham's son, yet shades his father in the commercial." A family friend told the Daily Mail: "To do an advert based on estrangement from family as if it's a joke when his family is devastated and his sister and grandparents are inconsolable is shocking."
PR Expert Weighs In
PR expert Mayah Riaz told The Mirror: "What could look like a deliberate dig to outsiders can often be an expression of frustration, hurt, or a desire to regain control of a narrative. The contradiction is that publicly asking for peace while making gestures that fuel speculation creates confusion." She warned that the feud could damage Brooklyn's personal brand if not handled carefully.
Brooklyn, who has a net worth of £7.4 million, is set to earn more from the DoorDash deal. The feud escalated after he and Nicola missed David's 50th birthday in May 2025. Despite pleading for privacy, Brooklyn's public actions continue to fuel speculation.
