Alan Ritchson, the star of Amazon Prime Video's Reacher, will not face criminal charges following a violent confrontation with a neighbour in Tennessee, after police concluded he acted in self-defence.
The Brentwood Police Department issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that their investigation had found Ritchson's actions were in self-defence. The 43-year-old actor also declined to pursue a potential reckless endangerment charge against his neighbour, Ronnie Taylor.
Video obtained by TMZ showed Ritchson striking Taylor multiple times as Taylor knelt on the ground, with Ritchson's two children watching nearby. However, police said the footage had been edited and omitted the start of the altercation.
Body camera footage released later showed Taylor rushing into the street in front of Ritchson's motorbike, causing Ritchson to go over the handlebars. After a verbal exchange, Ritchson attempted to leave but was shoved by Taylor, leading to the physical fight.
Taylor admitted to TMZ that he had instigated the contact, saying he pushed Ritchson twice after asking him to stop making noise on his bike. Ritchson has not commented publicly on the incident.
