Country singer Zach Bryan was pulled over for speeding in Verdigris, Oklahoma, on 4 September, with newly released bodycam footage showing him telling officers he is a 'famous musician'. The 27-year-old was stopped for driving 68mph in a 50mph zone and was handcuffed during the encounter.
In the footage, an officer asks Bryan for his address, but the singer refuses, saying he does not feel comfortable sharing where he lives. When pressed, Bryan snaps: 'I don't know the address, sir.' The officer responds: 'Why didn't you just say that?' Bryan replies: 'Because I don't think it's any of your business where I live. I'm a famous musician, and I don't want people knowing where I live.'
The officer, who had attended one of Bryan's concerts days earlier, asks if the singer supports law enforcement. Bryan says he does, but adds: 'I don't support this s**t though. This is crazy.' The trooper warns him: 'Listen, just because you are a famous musician doesn’t mean you can deny information.' Bryan eventually apologises and is let go with a warning.
Three days later, on 7 September, Bryan was arrested in Vinita, Oklahoma, on an obstruction of investigation charge after interfering with a traffic stop involving his security guard. He later called himself a 'dumbass' and said he 'acted like an idiot' in a video posted to Instagram. He bonded out of Craig County Jail less than two hours after being booked.
