Wolf Alice won the award for Best British Group at the BRIT Awards 2026, held at Manchester's Co-op Live Arena on Saturday, February 28. The North London band gave a powerful speech in support of UK grassroots venues as they accepted the trophy for the second time in their career.
The award comes after widespread acclaim for their fourth studio album 'The Clearing', released last summer. Bassist Theo Ellis admitted the band felt a mix of 'worried, nervous and excited' during recording, as they pushed themselves outside their comfort zone. 'I don't think we knew what was going to happen at all, but that's part of the excitement and the fear of constantly making music and developing as a band,' he told NME on the red carpet.
Looking ahead to their biggest headline show to date at London's Finsbury Park on July 5, drummer Joel Amey expressed pride in curating the line-up, which includes The Last Dinner Party, Lykke Li, Rachel Chinouriri, Keo and Florence Road. 'It's a dream come true to play there,' he said. Guitarist Joff Oddie praised The Last Dinner Party as 'one of the best live bands', while Ellis noted they have 'two great records'.
Wolf Alice also performed their track 'The Sofa' at the ceremony. The night featured a first television performance from Harry Styles since announcing his new album 'Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally', on which Ellie Rowsell provides backing vocals. Rowsell said: 'I was chuffed to be able to go to his studio and listen to some of his songs and put down some harmonies. It was a real pleasure.'
