The Wanted have announced their reunion for a charity concert in support of bandmate Tom Parker, who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour last year. The five-piece group will perform at London's Royal Albert Hall on 20 September, with proceeds going to Stand Up To Cancer.
Parker, who has been undergoing treatment and responding well, said at a press conference: 'It feels amazing. It's quite nice to be able to do something again that's not related to treatment. It's been a very sad eight months, so it's been nice to smile again, for me.'
The reunion marks the band's first performance together in seven years, following their split in 2014. Discussions about a comeback began in 2020 but were delayed by the pandemic and Parker's diagnosis. The group will also release a greatest hits album on 12 November and a new single.
The concert will feature performances from Liam Payne, Becky Hill, McFly, KSI and Sigrid. The Wanted's biggest hit, 'Glad You Came,' topped charts in the UK and US during their four-year run, which included two number one singles and multiple top ten hits.
Bandmate Jay McGuiness said: 'This is all about having fun with our mates, no pressure, just fun.' The event aims to raise funds and awareness for cancer research, highlighting Parker's journey and the band's enduring bond.
