Taylor Swift Breaks UK Chart Records With Historic Domination

Taylor Swift has made history by becoming the first artist to claim every slot in the top 10 of the US singles chart, thanks to her latest album Midnights. The 32-year-old pop star now holds the record for the most top 10 hits among women in chart history, surpassing Madonna's 38 with a total of 40.

In the UK, Midnights has sold 204,000 copies in its first week, making it the fastest-selling album since Adele's 30 in 2021. It also achieved the highest weekly vinyl sales of the 21st century, with 62,000 copies sold on vinyl alone. However, a UK chart rule limiting artists to three songs in the top 100 prevented Swift from replicating her US domination; she holds positions one, three, and four this week.

Swift's album Midnights, described as the story of '13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life', has broken streaming records on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. The album's lead single Anti-Hero has become a viral TikTok trend, with its chorus 'It's me. Hi! I'm the problem, it's me.'

Billboard reports that Swift's top 10 takeover would have been achieved by streams alone, before sales and radio play were counted. The album's success is also attributed to a clever marketing campaign, including multiple collectible vinyl editions that combine to form a clock.

Swift now boasts the most top 10 hits among women in US chart history, trailing only Drake overall. Midnights is also the first album to spawn 10 top 10 singles, and Swift broke records for the most streams of a single album in one day on major platforms.
