Steve Martin Cancels UK Tour After Positive Covid Test

Steve Martin has cancelled multiple comedy tour stops after testing positive for Covid-19. The 80-year-old comedian and his Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short were scheduled to perform in Virginia Beach and Richmond, Virginia this weekend as part of their The Dukes of Funnytown! Tour.

Martin announced the cancellations shortly before showtime on Friday via Instagram. He wrote: 'Dear Virginia Beach and Richmond. Sadly, I have come down with Covid. I can’t possibly do the shows that you deserve. So Marty and I must cancel tonight & tomorrow. But we will return under better circumstances.' He later posted a photo of a joint flu and Covid test showing a positive result for Covid, with the caption: 'Hey! No flu!'

Ticket holders for the affected performances will receive refunds. Fans offered well wishes in the comments, with one writing: 'I hope you feel better very soon, Steve. Take extra care of you.' Another said: 'Please come back when you feel better. I’ve wanted to see you in person for over 40 years.'

The duo is next scheduled to appear on October 4 in Florida, a date previously rescheduled from January after Short contracted Covid. The tour will continue in cities including Las Vegas, Boston, Pittsburgh, and Austin, concluding in Cleveland in April 2026.

Martin and Short attended last Sunday’s Emmy Awards alongside Only Murders in the Building co-star Selena Gomez. The show, currently in its fifth season, was nominated for seven Emmys but won none. Since its inception, it has received 56 nominations and won seven trophies.
