The Duchess of Edinburgh has swapped her usual A-line dresses and kitten heels for slim-fit cargo trousers and Wellington boots as she battles soaring temperatures in the Amazon rainforest. Sophie, 60, was photographed on day three of her visit to Peru, part of an official trip to South and Central America from 10 to 19 November.
The royal embarked on a biodiversity nature walk led by Amazon guide Rey Mozombite, exploring plant species and wildlife from ground level to canopy. With temperatures averaging between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius, she wore khaki cargo trousers tucked into Wellington boots, paired with a floral blouse by Penelope Chilvers. The 'Monday' style blouse featured a soft floral print, vintage-inspired clinched sleeves, and a ruffled neckline.
Sophie accessorised with gold jewellery, including the 'Woodland Single Oak Leaf Bracelet' by Asprey London, Giulia Barela's 'Africa' ring, and 'Poetica' earrings. Fashion stylist Gabrielle Mai described the outfit as 'a great example of how practical outdoor dressing can still feel considered and quietly elegant'.
Earlier in the day, the mother of Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex, wore flat platformed espadrilles from Toms for engagements at the Iquitos Naval Base and a local community. She later changed into the wellies, which she last wore in 2022 during a visit to Shallowford Farm in Newton Abbot.
The trip also saw Sophie attend a dinner celebrating the UK's Biodiverse Landscape Fund programme, wearing a 'Sienna Floral Bouquet' dress by Beulah London, seemingly a nod to her niece Princess Beatrice's daughter Sienna. The dress featured a floral print, puffed sleeves, and a floaty skirt, paired with Jimmy Choo pumps.
