Sid Wilson reportedly kicked out of Slipknot after 27 years

Slipknot founding member and DJ Sid Wilson has reportedly been kicked out of the band after 27 years, according to TMZ. The 49-year-old, who serves as the group's DJ and keyboardist, was one of the original nine members and joined in 1998, just before their self-titled debut album.

The heavy metal act, formed in 1995, is known for hits such as Duality and Psychosocial. The lineup also includes singer Corey Taylor, guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thomson, and percussionist Shawn Crahan.

Cryptic response from bandmate

TMZ did not give a reason for Wilson's removal, and no official explanation has been given. After rumours circulated, Root shared a cryptic message: "Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for a while maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information."

Root soundtracked the post with the group's song Til We Die, but did not directly address Wilson or the reported exit.

Engagement quietly called off

The news caps a turbulent year for Wilson, who recently broke off his engagement to on-and-off girlfriend Kelly Osbourne. The pair first met in 1999 when Slipknot toured Ozzfest, but only confirmed their romance in February 2022, after 23 years of friendship.

At the time, Osbourne described Wilson as "my best friend, my soulmate and I am so deeply in love with you." Their son, Sidney, was born at the end of 2022, and the couple got engaged in 2025 before quietly calling it off. Sources remain hopeful they may still get back together.

Osbourne on single life

Speaking to Closer, Osbourne said dating is "the last thing on my mind" and that she loves being single. "I’ve got my baby. I’m ambivalent. All men are the same. It’s rough," she added.

Of Sidney, she said: "He’s so gorgeous. I’m very blessed. I would love to have more kids. He definitely has got the It factor. There is something very magical about him."

Metro has reached out to Sid Wilson's representative for comment.
