Sebastian Stan has confirmed that he will portray the villain Two-Face in Matt Reeves' upcoming sequel The Batman: Part II, with filming set to start in the coming weeks. The actor revealed the news while speaking to Deadline at the Cannes film festival, where he was promoting his film Fjord.
Stan said he would travel to London “over summer” to begin work on the sequel, describing his role as “many roles in this one”. In DC Comics, Harvey Dent is introduced as Gotham City’s district attorney before an attack leaves half his face disfigured, leading to the emergence of the criminal alter ego Two-Face.
Discussing the film’s hair and makeup team, who “devised how his disfigurement will look”, Stan said: “I’m excited, I’m nervous and trying to keep surprising myself.” The character has previously been portrayed on screen by Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever (1995) and Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight (2008).
The sequel will see Robert Pattinson reprise his role as Batman, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Matt Reeves confirmed earlier this month that Stan and Scarlett Johansson had joined the cast, though he did not specify their roles at the time.
Production is expected to begin this week, with second-unit work and technical preparation reportedly under way in Liverpool. The film is scheduled for release on 1 October 2027, having originally been planned for 2026.
