Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were caught in a tense exchange while leaving the Met Gala on Monday night, with a video showing the singer looking annoyed as her partner chatted to Swarovski's global creative director Giovanna Engelbert behind her. Speaking to waiting media, Rihanna gave a curt reply before waiting for her partner, who then approached and hugged the man filming, posing for a photo and chatting briefly before they moved on.
Cameras also captured the couple in what appeared to be a heated argument in the back of a limousine. Rihanna could be seen with an annoyed expression while speaking to A$AP, who raised his eyebrows and avoided eye contact, turning his head away as she stared him down. The minute-long clip showed them going back and forth, with Rihanna leaning forward at one point to speak, but her partner staying put and not looking her in the eyes.
After the clip was shared online, many fans defended the couple, noting that arguments are normal and they were likely exhausted after a long night. 'Just a normal husband and wife interaction…what do you expect? To be happy and smiling 24/7?' one user posted. Another added: 'They could be discussing frustrations with the night and not each other.' The couple, who have been together since 2021 and share three children, made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala in 2021. Last year, A$AP revealed Rihanna's third pregnancy at the event, telling reporters: 'It's time that we show the people what we were cooking up.'
