Phoebe Bridgers celebrated her first solo UK number one record on the Official Albums Chart from hospital as she recovers from appendicitis. The Californian singer-songwriter’s chart-topping third LP, Lost Weekend, follows 2022’s Punisher, which peaked at number six in the UK.
Hospital recovery after birthday admission
The singer was taken to hospital on her 32nd birthday on August 17, days after the album’s release, and shared a photo of herself on Instagram lying in a hospital bed. Appendicitis occurs when the appendix becomes inflamed and usually results in the removal of the appendix.
Bridgers, known for the songs Kyoto, Motion Sickness and Scott Street, previously topped the album chart as a member of indie rock group Boygenius alongside Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, when their debut album The Record reached number one in 2023.
Tour and chart rivals
She is set to embark on The Lost Tour, in support of her latest album, on September 14, with dates planned for North America and Europe.
Katseye’s album Wild is at number two – the girl group’s highest album debut in the UK following their 2025 record Beautiful Chaos, which peaked at number 55. It comes ahead of their upcoming The Wildworld tour, which will kick off in Dublin in September before heading to cities including London, New York and Mexico City. Two members of the group, Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman, have temporarily taken a step back to prioritise their mental health and wellness.
Top five and singles chart
The top three album chart is completed by The Script’s The Usher’s Guide To Being Human, with Jungle’s latest offering, Sunshine, at number four. Jungle, made up of trio Josh Lloyd-Watson, Tom McFarland and Lydia Kitto, have maintained a chart streak with every studio album to date reaching the UK top 10. The Essential by Michael Jackson rounds off the top five.
In the singles chart, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean continue to dominate with Rein Me In after the pair broke the record for the longest-running UK number one single of all time. At number two is Shakira and Burna Boy’s Dai Dai, followed by Ella Langley’s Choosin’ Texas, with Movin’ To The Sun by HUGEL, Imael Angel and Ultra Nate at number four. Boston by Stella Lefty jumped from number nine to number five.
