US comedy rock band Green Jellÿ have dismissed bassist Michael “Fr33to F33t” Snyder after he posted a meme mocking Ozzy Osbourne following the metal legend’s death. The band, known for hits like “Three Little Pigs”, confirmed the firing on social media.
The offending image, posted shortly after Osbourne’s death on 22 July, showed the Black Sabbath frontman holding a sign reading “one day sober”, making light of his history with substance addiction. Green Jellÿ quickly deleted the post, with founder Bill Manspeaker blaming Snyder for the “distasteful” content.
In a now-removed comment, Manspeaker wrote: “He posted an extremely rude video about Ozzy dying that I found highly offensive and I immediately took it down.” Snyder claimed he was axed for questioning Manspeaker, adding: “I’ve been requested to stop the fun and laughter. It’s always been his band, which I respect.”
Snyder apologised to the Osbourne family, saying: “I’m truly sorry if I offended any of you. We’ve done lots of dark humour on the Green Jellÿ page, and I never meant to hurt anyone.” His departure comes as the band prepares to headline the Psycho Sideshow tour in September.
