Gene Simmons has reflected on his friendship with Ozzy Osbourne nearly two months after the Black Sabbath frontman's death. The Kiss star described Osbourne as 'a unique human being, a giant' who treated everyone the same, regardless of their status.
Speaking on actor David Duchovny’s Fail Better podcast, Simmons shared details of their five-decade bond, which began when Kiss opened for Black Sabbath on their 1975 Sabotage tour in Boston. Despite his own reputation, Simmons said Osbourne humbled him by remaining true to himself.
Simmons noted that while Osbourne was called the 'Prince of Darkness', in reality he was an 'English gentleman' who blew kisses to fans and told them he loved them. The tribute comes after Osbourne died in July aged 76, following a final farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy’s wife, recently shared her first social media post since his death, expressing gratitude for fan support and admitting she was still 'finding her footing'. Osbourne was laid to rest at a private funeral in Birmingham on 30 July after a public procession.
His death certificate listed cardiac arrest as the cause, with Parkinson’s disease and coronary artery disease as contributing factors. Osbourne is survived by Sharon and their six children, leaving a lasting legacy in rock and metal.
