MCR fans queue at Newcastle HMV for Black Parade anniversary album

Dozens of fans of all ages gathered outside the HMV store in Eldon Square, Newcastle city centre, on Friday morning ahead of the release of a special anniversary edition of a popular album. The queue stretched from the shop back past where the former Next store was located.

Anniversary Edition of The Black Parade

The album in question is The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, the American rock band known for leading the pop-punk genre in the 2000s and 2010s. Originally released in 2006, the rock opera concept album cemented the band's major fanbase and turns 20 years old in September.

To mark the occasion, the band released an anniversary edition featuring six bonus tracks, including three live performances from The Black Parade World Tour that have never before been released in a physical format, and three rare B-sides. Among the live recordings is the song Someone Out There Loves You, referred to by fans as 'Stay', which was played on tour but never officially had a studio release.

Fans Flock to Newcastle Store

The HMV store was a very busy place this morning, with the queue stretching down the street. Those interested in purchasing a copy can choose between the vinyl album at £29.99 or the CD at £13.99.

After releasing a record in 2022, the band has continued playing shows together and has expressed interest in creating a fifth studio album. Lead singer Gerard Way has said they have always wanted to do so, though he admitted he does not know exactly when this will happen.

Judging by the gathering in Newcastle today, the love for My Chemical Romance and its music has not wavered, and any further music they release will be met with enormous anticipation.
