Masked Singer UK's Toastie 'Rumbled' as Brenda Edwards

The guessing game is in full swing as The Masked Singer UK returned for its seventh series on ITV, with one culinary costume causing a major stir. Viewers are adamant they have already unmasked the celebrity inside the Toastie outfit, pinpointing Loose Women panelist and The X Factor alum Brenda Edwards.

Clues and Performance Spark Fan Theories

Toastie made a memorable debut on the episode broadcast on Sunday, 4th January 2026, performing a rendition of Walk This Way by Run-D.M.C. Before taking to the stage, the mystery singer dropped several tantalising clues about their identity.

They hinted at past employment in a bakery, suggested a possible Liverpool connection through their accent, and revealed their birthday falls on 20th August. Toastie also implied they might have previously appeared on a talent show, setting the rumour mill into overdrive.

Judges Divided But Fans Are Convinced

The panel of judges—Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, and Mo Gilligan—were left scratching their heads with a range of guesses. Davina suggested builder and reality star Craig Phillips, while Jonathan speculated it could be singer Fergie or Jennifer Hudson. Maya was convinced it was Emeli Sandé, and Mo proposed Rebecca Ferguson.

However, the audience at home reached a very different consensus. On social media platform X, a flood of viewers identified Toastie as Brenda Edwards. One fan declared, "Calling it now, Toastie is Brenda Edwards," with others swiftly agreeing. Another wrote, "I'm going with Brenda Edwards for Toastie," solidifying the popular theory. A minority of fans wondered if it could be fellow X Factor contestant Marcus Collins.

First Unmasking and Other Characters Revealed

The premiere episode also saw the first elimination of the new series. The One Show presenter Alex Jones was unmasked as Disc Jockey after performing Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club. The 48-year-old, married to Charlie Thomson, emotionally dedicated her performance to her three children, Teddy, Kit, and Annie, hoping to inspire them to overcome fear.

Other new characters set to perform in the upcoming episode include Monkey Business, Teabag, Yak, Arctic Fox, and Conkers. They join returning costumes like Gargoyle, Red Panda, Can of Worms, Moth, and Sloth in the competition.

The new series follows the recent unmasking of singer Anne-Marie as Goldfish in a special group performance, a first for the show. The Masked Singer continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
