Global music icon Mariah Carey opted for a stylishly incognito look during a recent visit to the snowy peaks of Aspen, Colorado. The sighting comes as the singer prepares for a major career milestone: performing at the opening of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
A Low-Key Yet Glamorous Mountain Getaway
On Thursday, the 56-year-old 'Queen of Christmas' was photographed enjoying a trip to the famous ski resort. Carey masterfully blended in by wearing a cowboy hat and sunglasses, though her high-fashion ensemble ensured she remained a vision of glamour.
She wrapped up against the chill in a large, luxurious Fendi poncho, which she paired with black leggings featuring a distinctive pattern. Rather than opting for practical snow boots, the star completed the look with a pair of black leather and suede Christian Louboutin boots.
Her excursion included a stop at the renowned Aspen hat boutique, Kemo Sabe, before she was escorted to a waiting black SUV.
Major Announcement: Headlining the Olympic Ceremony
Beyond her winter wardrobe, Carey has significant professional news. Earlier this year, the vocalist revealed she will have the honour of opening the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
She shared the exciting announcement in a video posted to her Instagram. In the clip, clad in a tight red dress and diamonds, she said: 'Ciao! Get ready for Milano Cortina 2026.'
Mixing in Italian phrases, she added: 'See you at the Stadio San Siro on the 6th of February for the Olympic Opening Ceremony. Ci Vediamo a Milano!' The official Olympics Instagram account celebrated the news by cleverly referencing her classic hit, writing: 'All I want for THE OPENING CEREMONY is youuuuuuuu!'
New Music and Chart Dominance
The superstar's schedule remains packed. Reports suggest Carey is working on a 90s grunge-inspired album set for release next year. This follows her September album, 'Here For It All'—her first in seven years.
While that record received critical praise, it notably became the lowest-selling album of her 35-year career, fading from charts after roughly three weeks.
Conversely, her festive legacy continues to break records. To mark the 30th anniversary of her 'Merry Christmas' album in 2024, she released a deluxe edition. Its lead single, 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,' once again returned to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last year.
Carey commemorated this by posting on Instagram, holding a faux torch and stating she was 'humbly taking back the torch!!' The track is now RIAA certified 18x platinum and holds the record as the longest-running number one single in the chart's 67-year history.
