Lily Allen has cancelled most of the arena dates on her upcoming North American tour, opting instead to perform at smaller theatres and amphitheatres. The British singer announced the changes on Monday, revealing that six out of seven arena shows have been replaced with medium-sized venues, with only her Madison Square Garden opening night remaining as planned.
The cancelled arena gigs include stops at Los Angeles' Forum, Chicago's United Center, San Francisco's Chase Center, Vancouver's Rogers Arena, Philadelphia's Xfinity Mobile Arena, and Montreal's Bell Centre. Ticketholders will receive automatic refunds within five to seven days and will be pre-registered for a chance to purchase tickets for the new dates. Montreal is the only city not to receive a replacement show.
New shows have been booked at venues such as the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the Chicago Theatre, and the Orpheum in Vancouver. Additionally, a new date has been added at Seattle's Paramount Theatre on July 24. Allen addressed the changes on social media, referring to them as 'adjustments' without citing reasons such as poor sales, stating she was 'so excited' to add Seattle and expressed sadness about Montreal.
The tour, supporting her concept album 'West End Girl', has been a topic of discussion due to its theatrical nature, with Allen performing the album in full without speaking to the audience. Despite previous positive reviews, concerns about the show's suitability for large arenas may have affected advance sales. Allen defended her artistic choices on social media, explaining that the 'fourth wall' helps with storytelling.
