Lewis Capaldi has responded to an online troll who sent him a direct message on Instagram calling him 'ugly' and claiming he did not deserve his success. The singer posted a voice note reply on his social media accounts, in which he called the troll a 'gimp'.
The unknown critic's message read: 'U’re ugly ewww, u don’t deserve u’re success at all.' Capaldi, 23, recorded a brief audio response saying: 'Hello, it’s Lewis here. I got your message just then and I thought I’d do a quick wee message to you to just say… you’re a gimp.'
He shared the clip on Instagram and Twitter with the caption: 'Just me replying to some well wishers this lovely Christmas.' The post drew praise from several celebrities, including Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, who wrote: 'Love this and you. Also GIMP.' Producer and DJ Zedd called Capaldi the 'greatest of all time', while Love Island’s Lucie Donlan described it as 'the best thing ever'.
Capaldi is known for his humorous online presence and has previously made headlines for setting up a tab at Greggs for his fans. His music video for 'Bruises' featured appearances from James McAvoy, Camila Cabello, Niall Horan, Roman Kemp and Shania Twain.
