Lainey Wilson's Bold SXSW Appearance and Personal Revelations

Country music singer and actress Lainey Wilson made a striking fashion statement during her appearance in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday. The 33-year-old artist, known for her role in Yellowstone, attended the premiere of her Netflix documentary Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool at the South by Southwest festival.

A Daring Fashion Choice

Wilson captivated onlookers with her bold ensemble, which featured a very sheer lace top that revealed a silver-studded black bra underneath. She complemented this look with tight black leather slacks and a classic black cowgirl hat, creating a sassy yet charming country style that her fans have come to adore. Her long blonde hair was styled in soft waves, and she opted for a glamorous nude-toned makeup palette for the event.

This appearance comes two years after Wilson underwent a significant transformation, losing 30 pounds through dedicated diet and exercise routines. Her current slender figure was prominently highlighted by her fashion choices at SXSW.

Netflix Documentary and Personal Struggles

The premiere showcased a teaser clip from her upcoming Netflix documentary, which is scheduled to begin streaming on Wednesday, April 22. In the documentary, Wilson opens up about her financial hardships, particularly when she first met her now-fiancé, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Devlin 'Duck' Hodges, in 2021.

Wilson candidly recalls, 'I was broke. I was so broke when we met. And he thought I was doing a little bit better than I was. But a few weeks after we met, my sister had to Venmo me a couple hundred bucks.' The documentary also features home video footage of Wilson as a child playing guitar and early clips of her performing in small bars, illustrating her journey to stardom.

Reflecting on her songwriting process, Wilson shares, 'I knew whenever I had written my first song that I loved how it made me feel when I was in the middle of writing the song. When I was coming up with the idea, feeling like, 'Man, I created something from nothing. How cool is that.'' She concludes that this feeling confirmed her calling in music.

Engagement and Wedding Plans

Wilson and Hodges announced their engagement in February 2025, with Hodges proposing at the George Jones estate in Franklin, Tennessee. The proposal featured a large diamond engagement ring presented in a box shaped like a cowboy hat, adding a touch of country flair to the romantic moment.

According to sources, the couple is planning a massive country-style wedding to take place in Nashville, Tennessee, where Wilson owns a 30-acre property. A source explains, 'That is the best location because she has deep ties there and also Devlin has ties to Alabama, which is only a four-hour drive away.'

The wedding will embrace a country theme, complete with horses at the venue. Described as 'sexy country, like a California cowgirl look, so traditional with a little sassiness thrown in,' the event will reflect Wilson's personal style. She is reportedly already searching for a wedding dress that highlights her slender figure with Southern charm, aiming for a 'Southern belle meets music royalty' aesthetic, though she has ruled out wearing a cowgirl hat down the aisle.

Despite keeping their romance private initially, the couple made their red-carpet debut in 2023 and have been together since 2021, solidifying their relationship in the public eye.
