Kylie Jenner Opens Up About Postpartum Depression After Second Pregnancy

Kylie Jenner has shared details about her traumatic postpartum experiences after the births of her two children, Stormi and Aire. In an interview with British Vogue, the 27-year-old reality star and businesswoman revealed she suffered from postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter Stormi, now six, and again after the birth of her son Aire, now two.

Jenner, who became pregnant with Stormi at the age of 19, recalled feeling disconnected from herself both mentally and physically. ‘I think, being pregnant, I wore sweatpants every day, I didn't have time to figure out even some of the little things in my life, and then postpartum lasted a year,’ she said. ‘Mentally, it's really hard. Hormonally, it's really hard. I didn't know how to dress.’

The Kylie Cosmetics founder also described the emotional toll of her second pregnancy, which she described as ‘major baby blues’. She said she would spend hours on the phone with her mother, Kris Jenner, crying hysterically over the difficulty of choosing a name for her son. ‘I felt like such a failure that I couldn't name him. He deserved so much more than that. It just really triggered me,’ she confessed.

Jenner eventually settled on the name Aire, but not before briefly considering Knight. Her daughter Stormi still recalls that period, asking her mother: ‘Do you remember when Aire's name was Knight?’ Jenner noted that the experience taught her to advise friends to pick a name before giving birth. ‘My advice to all my friends having children is pick the name before, because when the hormones hit you can't make decisions. You can't,’ she said.

The interview comes as Jenner, who has become a fixture at fashion shows, reflects on the challenges of young motherhood. She acknowledged that while she always acted older than her age, becoming a parent at 20 was a monumental life change. ‘It was wild... It didn't hit me [straight away]. But it was a huge life change,’ she said.
