Bad Bunny's 'awkward' hug with Kris Jenner at Met Gala has fans 'dying'

Bad Bunny appeared to have an awkward interaction with Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian at the 2026 Met Gala that set the internet alight.

The Grammy winner - who dated Kendall Jenner on and off between 2023 and 2024 - ran into his ex’s mother and sister on the red carpet at the prestigious fashion event in New York on Monday night.

In a now-viral video, the 32-year-old held out his arm to hug Jenner, 70, from the side as he walked past, with the matriarch seen repeatedly patting his arm. Still with his arm around the momager, Bad Bunny leaned over to chat to Kardashian, 45. Both reality stars then appeared to turn away looking seemingly uncomfortable.

The exchange had fans “dying with laughter” on social media. “How awkward was that greeting between Bad Bunny and Kris Jenner, his EX mother-in-law?” one wrote on X. Another added: “That Bad Bunny greeting with Kris Jenner felt so awkward that even I got tense. Her trying to be cool and him like, ‘What am I doing here.’ Who else saw it and died laughing?”

One user claimed the tension was simply down to Bad Bunny’s hugging technique, penning: “It's just that he hugged her weirdly, lmao.” Another joked that Jenner couldn’t recognise the rapper due to his transformation into an elderly man, complete with grey hair and a beard, prosthetic-assisted makeup age and a cane.

Bad Bunny - real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio - quipped that it took him “53 years” to get ready for the Met Gala. Alongside his aging makeup, he wore a black tuxedo with a large bow detail from his Zara collection. The outfit was a reference to Charles James’ 1947 work “Bustle,” part of the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, and intended to make him look 50 years older. It was an ode to the “The Aging Body” section in the “Costume Art” exhibit.
